Online quoting system for a premier supplier of lighting solutions for both photographic and film industries.

ProLighting London and Paris are the leading suppliers of professional lighting solutions to the photographic and film industries. Operating across two major creative capitals, they support large-scale productions for global fashion houses including Dior, Gucci and Louis Vuitton, as well as major commercial brands such as Nike and Adidas.

Their reputation is built on precision, reliability and deep technical expertise. When productions are moving at speed and budgets are substantial, lighting logistics cannot fail. Every fixture, modifier and control unit must be specified accurately, delivered on time and accounted for clearly.

ProLighting needed a digital platform that reflected that level of professionalism while modernising how quotes and kit lists were created internally and shared with clients.

The brief

ProLighting’s quoting process relied heavily on manual workflows. Quotes were built via email, spreadsheets and traditional paper-based gaffer sheets used to spec equipment for shoots. While functional, the system created several operational constraints:

  • Time-consuming manual quote preparation
  • Inconsistent formatting across teams
  • Limited visibility as shoots evolved
  • No centralised digital record of evolving kit lists
  • A website that did not fully reflect their market position

At the same time, ProLighting were expanding into European markets and needed infrastructure that could support multi-currency quoting and cross-border growth.

The objective was clear:

  1. Design and develop a high-performance website aligned to their minimal, premium brand aesthetic.
  2. Replace manual quoting and paper gaffer sheets with a purpose-built online quote builder.
  3. Enable dynamic, evolving kit lists for complex productions.
  4. Support both GBP and EUR markets without adding operational friction.

This was not a brochure redesign. It was a workflow transformation.

Our approach

Discovery & workflow mapping

We began by mapping their internal quoting process in detail. This included:

  • How productions are initially scoped
  • How kit lists evolve during pre-production
  • How pricing is structured across different equipment categories
  • How multi-day hire pricing and volume changes affect totals
  • How teams in London and Paris operate independently but within one brand

Understanding the operational reality was critical. The system had to match how gaffers and production teams actually think, not force them into a rigid structure.

Architectural decisions

We developed:

  • A bespoke CMS tailored specifically to ProLighting’s internal needs
  • A Vue.js front-end to power a fast, reactive quoting interface
  • A fully custom quote builder engineered around production workflows

The decision to build a custom CMS ensured complete control over product structures, pricing logic and future expansion. Vue.js provided a responsive, application-like experience without compromising performance.

Design & development

Front-end performance & aesthetic

The website was designed to reflect ProLighting’s minimal and high-end brand positioning. Clean typography, restrained colour use and strong visual hierarchy ensure the equipment and work speak for themselves.

Performance was a priority from the outset. The site achieves strong Google Lighthouse scores, ensuring:

  • Fast initial load times
  • Solid SEO foundations
  • Smooth user interaction
  • Reliable performance across devices

In a competitive, production-led industry, speed and clarity matter.

Bespoke online quote builder

At the core of the project sits the custom-built quote builder.

The system enables:

  • Dynamic product configuration
  • Date-based hire pricing
  • Volume-sensitive totals
  • Multi-currency quoting in GBP and EUR
  • Live recalculation as kit lists evolve
  • PDF generation without submission

Importantly, the system allows teams to generate evolving kit lists before a final quote is issued. This replaces traditional paper gaffer sheets with a structured digital equivalent.

Users can:

  • Build and refine complex equipment lists
  • Generate internal planning PDFs
  • Issue client-facing quotes
  • Track totals in real time

There is no forced authentication layer. The system was intentionally designed to reduce friction and align with their existing client relationships.

This is a production tool, not just a form.

Launch & delivery

The project was delivered in structured phases:

  1. CMS foundation and product modelling
  2. Quote engine logic development
  3. Front-end Vue.js interface build
  4. PDF rendering and formatting engine
  5. Cross-currency testing
  6. Performance optimisation and Lighthouse validation
  7. Internal team onboarding

Extensive testing ensured pricing accuracy across edge cases, including complex multi-day hires and large-scale kit configurations.

The result was a stable, production-ready platform capable of supporting both London and Paris operations from day one.
